Lidocaine vs benzocaine: which delay product is right for you?
Both are topical anaesthetics used in delay products, but they feel different.
Lidocaine
Common in sprays like Promescent. It absorbs into the skin and usually needs 10 to 15 minutes to work.
Benzocaine
Used in wipes and condoms. It acts quickly and is often used at 4 to 7.5% strength.
Which should you pick?
If you want flexible dosing, choose a metered lidocaine spray. If you want something pre-dosed and pocket-sized, try benzocaine wipes. Anyone allergic to "-caine" anaesthetics should avoid both.
