How to use a delay spray: a step-by-step guide
Delay sprays work best when you use the right dose at the right time. Here is how to get it right.
1. Read the Drug Facts label
Check the active ingredient (usually lidocaine or benzocaine) and the maximum number of sprays.
2. Test first
Try a single spray on a small area a day before to check for irritation.
3. Apply 10 to 15 minutes before
Spray on the head and shaft, rub it in gently and wait for it to absorb.
4. Wipe off excess
This reduces transfer to your partner. A condom helps too.
5. Adjust next time
Too numb? Use fewer sprays. Not enough effect? Add one spray next time, without going over the label maximum.
If early ejaculation happens often, talk to a doctor. There are effective treatments and techniques beyond topical products.
